Ebay, Super Affiliates and 12,000 Ebooks

This has been very intresting...

Well now my feedback should up to 5 positives by tommorow. The first person left their feedback a little slow but everyone else has been quite speedy in leaving feedback. I have just purchased 12,000 E-books for $1.00, 1 whole dollar!

Yes, some of the E-books are useless and others are general public information. However, for the most part... I have found quite a few good ebooks, the primary purpose though is to get my feedback up.

An intresting thing happened on one of the ClickBank forums im on. A "Super Affiliate" who usually just lurks, joined the forum and posted a rather informative post. Now that I had finally seen one of the golden gooses of Click Bank, I was not about to let him slip through my fingers.

So I wrote a proposal to him, asking if he could mentor me, now most people would say they will give him a % of profit. However, there is a number of flaws with that proposal,

1. How does he know how much you make?
2. Theres no guarentee you will do the work
3. How does he know he will get paid?

Trusting people on the internet is a very difficult thing, especially considering all the con artists out there. I however, wrote a diffrent type of proposal, one which helping me would directly benifit him and give him the safety and security he needed.

When trying to propose something to someone, I think if I were in this persons position and I was reading this proposal, what would I think?

So im currently negotiating with this Super Affiliate which may in fact put me back in the game on Click Bank. Im also getting ready to put my first item up for sale on Ebay, I will be selling a pair of unused Hi Hat Cymbals, which is used on Drums.

I am pondering over what to do with my new mass of books, I am going to keep on collecting these books, mainly just to get more feedback. Currently its costing me about 2-3 cents for each feedback, im spreading out my purchases so they wont be all at once when my potential buyers look at my feedback. Having ten purchases in one day and only ten purchases in total can ring alarms in the minds of buyers.

Also looking into getting a digital camera, cheap is definatly the priority, im thinking 120 bucks tops, looks like I can get a 6 megapixel camera at future shop for 119.99, looks promising.

Ebay, the easy way

Well, after my quick and swift battering by Click Bank, my friend said I should try Ebay.

I knew it had to come sometime, so how can a person get started making money on Ebay, well this is what ive gone to find out. So lets start at the beginning shall we?

Signing up was a breeze, of course at every turn you get Ebay trying to coax you into signing up for PayPal. Well I did sign up, but I was careful not to enter in any bank info. The reason is because PayPal has a dark history of freezing bank accounts of innocent people who were victims of fraud. My recommendation? Go to a diffrent bank, set up a chequing account and use it only for PayPal, then when you get money, divert it to your real account.

This way, you avoid having your paycheque being siezed because some asshole in nigeria thought it would be funny to pull another Nigerian Scam on some poor Ebayer.

But enough of that... Onward!

Alright so now I see in order to sell I need to set-up a sellers account... well how the hell do I do that? Eventually I figured out that I need to run an auction to have a sellers account, well fine Ebay can screw me out of 24 cents so I can get it set up.

So the test auctions running, no big deal, gets me used to the Ebay system. Alas, I realize I have a pathetic (0) feedback... woe is me. Obviously there is a level of distrust when it comes to people with a unproven track record.

After signing up I was searching through Ebay and Vowala! I see a Ebook on making money with Google Adsense... and... its a startling 89 cents!

Well I figure for 89 cents, I get useful information on making money with Google Adsense and... I could bring that Feedback rating up a notch. Sounds good to me.

So I pay my 89 cents using the Buy It Now option, then become confused while I try to figure out how digital delivery works on Ebay. I kept on re-checking my "My Ebay", until I finally come across this action list, its basically a drop down box with a bunch of options. Low and behold, there it is my digital delievery option.

After I get my zip file, and upack the contents I find a suprising 124 page book. I was fairly pleased with my first Ebay purchase, now mind you, most of the information is generic... but as you go more deeply into the book it gets alot better.

You wanna know what the best thing was though? Reprint/Resell Rights come with it. Bingo! Now were in business, not only do I get details on how I can sell the book to other would be adsense people but also some nifty pieces of copywriting.

I would say that was worth the 89 cents..

This gives me and idea, I could shell out the $50 and become a Click Bank publisher, then have affiliates sell my ebooks for 19.95, take $8 for myself and vowala, 89 cents could become very profitable. Well thats all for now.

P.S. I left feedback for my seller, I have yet to get feedback from him, but it looks like he takes up to four days to leave feedback from what I gather.

Click Bank Affiliate Program

Okay after searching high and low, far and wide... I had found the affiliate giant known as Click Bank. Now for those who dont know what Click Bank or Affiliate programs are, im going to give you a quick and simple explanation.

There are affiliates and there are publishers. A publisher is someone who creates a product and then looks to affiliates to market them for him/her. An affiliate is an internet marketer, who gains a percentage of every sale made from the people they refer to the publisher.

Its really simple, one guy makes a product and the other one sells it. Now I did extensive research into affiliate marketing and clickbank, this is the basics of what I found.

The average cost to promote a new product is less than $100 and whether or not you succeed is dependant on a couple of things.

  • #1 your skill and experience, the better internet marketer you are, the better your sales will be.
  • #2 your website copy, which is marketing slang for the words that are used in your website to sell a product.
  • #3 the way you advertise, as in how effectivly you target your audience and how much it costs you to do it.
Okay now you know what the biggest problem on the web is today? Good information, I mean its easy to find info on how you can make money doing a buisness with 30k, but what about the guy who has $100? He gets stuck with the scam artists who take away his money faster than you can blink.

So, for those who dont have 30 grand to invest and cant afford to spend more than $100, this is the blog you need to read.

Well, I set up a Click Bank account (its free by the way), which was easy as pie and I also set up a Google AdWords account (costs $10). An important note about Click Bank is you can do it if your under 18, at least I think so. They send you a check, no direct deposit (unless you make more than 10,000 a month).

Now I needed to pick a product to sell. What I first thought about doing was an anti-virus program that is used to get rid of spy-ware ect. I decided against it in the end though and opted to try a hypnosis product that sells for a $100 and lands me a nice $60 commission.

Most publishers on Click Bank offer between 40-75% commission.

Alrighty, I had a product selected, my Google AdWords account set up and my Click Bank account. Now I needed to get a website, I went to godaddy.com and purchased a private registration, which cost me $15. Then I had their so called "web hosting", which is free, but a pain in the ass to use.

I got sick of trying to get that damned webhosting software to work on GoDaddy, so I switched my hosting to awardspace.com. These people are saints by the way, Award Space provides the best free hosting I have ever seen. The control panel is easy to use, everything works smoothly and effectivly, plus its free!

Now that I had my website set-up I was almost ready to sell. However first I needed to get a "web copy", which is basically disguising advertising as content. I decided to be lazy and rip the ad-copy from my publishers website, the reason why is because it is a very good piece of copywriting and it had already been tested so I knew it would be more effective.

So I essentially took the publishers website, put it into a frame on my website and presto! I was good to go.

You can look at the website at www.products-reviewed.org

But! were not done yet, alas I needed people to visit my site if I was ever going to sell anything. Thats where Google Adwords comes in, now how I did my AdWords Campaign was fairly simple, I made six completly diffrent ads, all dealing with hypnosis.

Then I took a bunch of cheap keywords (costs less than 15 cents per click) and used those keywords in my ads. Well how the ads have preformed is amazing, one ad started off with a 23.4% CTR! which is alot in the adwords world. Of course it didnt stay there, it went all the way down to 7.20% and its been staying around there ever since.

But what about the other ads?? Well they preformed... horribly, some were less than 1%.

Alright here is the numbers for the CTR of my six ads...

7.20%
1.85%
1.40%
0.92%
0.00%
0.00%

So what is so special about the 7% one? Well on that one I targeted sex, it was basically mixed in, sex, girls and hypnosis and the ad is what came out.

The other ones were everything from telling the person not to go to my website - to hypnosis secrets, ect. Your probably thinking "I hope he show me the 7% ad" arent you? Well im not going to.. not yet at least, because I would probably get a high rate of click fraud if I did.

Alright so I had 333 clicks, 5081 impressions (in total for all six ads)

So how did it go? your just dying to know arent you? onward!

It was a faliure, not one single sale. However this is not the end of my Click Bank attempt, but I am going to sum up what it has cost me so far.

Time: Lots of research, maybe to much

Money:

$15 Domain Name Registration
$10 Google AdWords Registration
$25.91 AdWords CPC

Total Cost:$50.91
Profit/Loss: -$50.91

Alright so lets say you want to give it a shot too? Well my first recommendation is pick a cheaper product, have a minimum of 50% commission and make sure your costs are low enough so can make money.

That said, here are important links you will need.

  • www.copywritersboard.com - Wonderful site on writing ads, copywriting.
  • www.thegaryhalbertletter.com - Undoubtly one of the best marketing sites if not the best, in the world
  • www.marketing-experiments.com - Superb site, go check it out
  • www.clickbanksuccessforum.com - A lot of useful information on ClickBank is here
  • www.godaddy.com - Domain Registration, unsure about these people, they are cheap but very annoying, you may want to try someone else
  • www.clickbank.com
  • www.awardspace.com - free webhost

Making Money On The Internet Is Hard!

Hi buddy,

If you have ever tried to make money on the internet... and... youve found a horde of scams, lies and broken dreams then... this will be one of the most important blogs you will ever read.

Heres why, see I have been trying to make money on the internet and figure exactly how to do that, for quite a while now. Unfortunatly on the internet there is a gigantic pile of bullshit that is in my way to obtaining riches while sitting on the couch.

Now fear not, all is not lost, for I have detemination and im as stubborn as an ox. I WILL make money on the internet one way or another, I have a great deal of faith in the internet
as a money making machine.

I have created this blog for 3 reasons,

#1 I have not found a blog that goes through all the miserable failures and lies that exist on the internet, nor have I found a way to see how one makes money on the internet in a step by step fashion.

#2 So many blogs simply promote some rip-off ebook and never teaches anything of value, im not selling anything, I am simply writing down everything I have tried to do in making money on the internet.

#3 Most importantly, I have grown sick of seeing people ripped off by con artists who seem to be the only ones making money.
